I case'd this card from Melissa Stout's blog here. Hers is flawless, but I'm a bit of a sloppy stamper. I didn't have the right DSP, so I stamped the medallion from Days of Gratitude on lucky limeade before punching out the pennants to make the tree. Hope you like the card!

WEll, I finally got myself a Big Shot. I love the sturdiness of it and the fact that I can use all the SU dies that are available. This one is the Vintage Wallpaper embossing folder and I thought it looked pretty much gorgeous on its own, so I just made the tag to go on it and decorated the inside a bit. I actually CASEd this layout from the catalog. I really LOVE the new in-colors this year. I especially love Pear Pizazz which is featured in this card. Hope you enjoy the card. Hydrangea Get Well Susie!

I grew up really disliking hydrangeas because there were two huge bushes in front of my grandmother's house that were always FULL of bumblebees to my city slicker child's mind. Now I love them and marvel at their different colors and varieties. This stamp set is one of my favorites. If you don't have it, you need it! I used Retired Creamy Caramel, retired French Filligree, and the Top Note Die for this card. I cased it from the Hero Arts blog.

Thank you With All My Heart - S-411 Challenge

I gave myself last night to work on one of my favorite challenge sites, Stamping 411. Here's the latest sketch challenge: I inked up my new SU rubber (With All My Heart.)

I made a background paper using the flower images from the stamp. The colors are Choc Chip, Close to Cocoa, Melon Mambo, and Pretty in Pink. Don'tcha just love the SU color names???

Today is my LAST day of Winter Break. The Steelers play today at 1:00 and we hope for the stars to align in just the right way to get them in the playoffs again. It's too early for football to be over for me.

However, I must say, that Drew Brees is a hottie. I could become a New Orleans' Saints fan in a pinch! Enjoy your Sunday!!

We did an anything but a card swap for December and I'm finally posting the ones I've mailed. I still have 2 to mail (sorry girls!). I'll get my butt to the post office in the morning. Anyway, I got this idea from the resource section of splitcoast. I was happy to use my binding tool to create this as well as some retired SU papers. This was a fairly simple project to create. You just tuck your cards into the pockets for each month along with envelopes and postage, and you're ready to go for the year! I hope the ladies will ike these!

I thought I could use this card as a thank you for Thanksgiving dinner at my sister in law's. I used Stamping411's great sketch for this week. It really makes a pretty card I think. Hodgepodge Bavarian Birthday

I was playing around with some red embossing powder I found in my closet and created this hodgepodgey card. I so love this Alpine Ribbon from last year's mini and am getting around to using it. I always feel like I don't use my materials enough. The problem is there is so much CUUUTE stuff out there that I have to have. There's just not enough time in my day. I believe that if I had a dedicated stamping space, that would change. What's your experience with that? Anyway, hope you like the card.

We are having a white elephant silent auction at school to support our hospitality committee. Yup! That's what it's come to.... :) HEre's my contribution. Here's my card for the latest Stamping 411 challenge. For the last challenge, they did a surprise prize and they drew my name!!!! I'm so excited! I won an SU stamp set Beautiful Blooms that I've been wanting!!! Yay Stamping 411!!

I was happy with the way this card turned out! I think it's because I love this set so much. All products are SU except the rhinestones.

The DSP is Bella Blooms.

I made the background paper with the focal image stamp.

Trendy Trees and Bonus Hummingbird

This hummingbird came to our empty feeder yesterday and then flew to my window and looked in
as if to say, HELLOOOOOO.... There's no food, here. I decided to make my own hummingbird food. Dontcha just love Google? How did we ever get along without it?
s/he was back and forth all day. To me, seeing one is like seeing a shooting star! I get so excited every time and it is so fleeting.
I love the sketch challenges over at Stamping 411. The ladies
over there are so talented. Lots of inspiration to be had...
I love a nice simple sketch.
My thinking of you card is what I came up with. I used Trendy Trees and Chocolate Chip DSP from way back. The ribbon is SU as well!! It's from the alpine ribbon collection that was offered in last year's holiday mini.

I'm trying to use the new SU in colors to figure out which are my favorites. These are the summery colors. I used a sponge on the daisies, using Baja Breeze, Melon Mambo, and Crushed Curry. I also did a sponged resist on the middle layer.

There is so much great Christmas inspiration at the C'bug Christmas in July Challenge.

The stampers are so talented there! I got out my Cuttlebug and used my SU Curly Label Punch, Snowflake Die as well as my Cuttlebug embossing folder, snowflakes. It's such a beautiful embossed background!

I also love the curly label set. I'm thinking it's retired. SAD!!!!! Hope you like!

Christmas in July

This is what I've come up with for our July swap. I used the awesome DSP series for Cranberry Crisp (i think) and the Alpine ribbon from last year's Holiday Mini, the circle cutter, the paper cutter, and Soft Suede, all from SU to build the card. The image is from Inkadinkadoo's clear stamps, Winter Birds.

I hope you can tell the owl is inside the card and circle cutter was used to make the window once the DSP was adhered.

I love the thin strips of cardstock you can make with SU's paper cutter. They just add a little interest and help tie the ribbon in with the card. Hope you had a happy 4th! Thanks for stopping by.

My baby is 9 years old! This is the quick card I made for her.
I got to use some of my new in color products that I got on Friday. I cut out and adhered the Bermuda Bay and Crushed Curry hats over the Melon Mambo. Hands down, SU has the best color names ever!
I used the very versatile Party Hearty for this card as well as Wow Flowers which makes an awesome background.
I also used a Martha Stewart punch for the bottom of the mambo layer.
Check out my new catty in the background!
I have a new wish list with only 30 items on it! It's going to be a fun SU year!

Lisa is teaching me about the camera I've had for a year and a half. Check out these two pictures. The first is the original and the second is sharpened ALA Lisa's Tutorial. I used Adobe Photoshop - a program I know next to nothing about. It's great to learn something new at my age :). Check out her blog and try some of her challenges out. You never know what you may learn!!

(I'm not sure if you can tell the difference -it is very subtle on the post, but in a bigger size, it's quite impressive.)

My swap group did Masculine Cards this month and this is what I came up with. I got inspiration over at http://stamptv.com with Gina's tutorial/video on embossing with nesties and using them as stencils. It's hard to see from this picture that the front panel is embossed around the edge.

I just adore this little frog. I embossed the focal point with my nesties and then sponged with Bliss Blue. The bottom panel is retired DSP (parisien something or other) . I'm trying to use up some of my OLD cardstock so I used my River Rock. The ink is Bliss Blue, River Rock, and True Thyme. Hope you like! Glad you stopped by!

I had to do Kriustina's 50th challenge. I had a hard time with this one, though. I pulled out my retired SU Swell News and some scrap Basic Grey papers. I also played around my SU Circle Cutter. I'm finally getting the hang of it. I used my copics to color the Momma. I do like the funky papers with the funky style of this stamp set. No One In the World

This month with my out of town swap girls, we were to make a "girlie" card. For some reason, I'm not very good at glammin' things up. I tried to keep it simple.

Please think of me as I'm returning to work tomorrow after a long spring break (hence the more frequent posting.) Just a couple of months before summer vacation, so I really can't complain. I look forward to seeing the kids tomorrow in any event.

I used the following for this card:

Stamps: MFT's Going Places

Paper: SU Very Vanilla, Urban Oasis DP, Baja Breeze, Basic Grey

Ink: Basic Grey and various Copics

/Ribbon: PTI Antique Ivory

Tools: SU Paper Cutter (heart) this!, Nestabilities, SU Scallop Punch, Corner Rounder, SU foam dots

I couldn't get the sentiment to fit the card, so I took off the word "There's" from the beginning and placed them on one line. I paper-pieced the dress. I had to cut up my precious paper to get the colors I wanted for the bottom DP. I had to have something tie the colors together. Hope you have a good week. Thanks for visiting!

Happy April! - Baby Wipe DP technique

Hello you out there! I have a post finally. I'm on Spring Break, so I've had time to stamp.

This card is inspired by Gina's awesome tutorial on Stamp TV. If you haven't checked it out, you must! She has tons of very cool tutorials on video. It's so great to see something demo'ed that you've wanted to try, but didn't get a move on. I did the background paper and the bird. The first picture is a stripe, which I prefer and the second is a plaid.

You fold your baby wipe into a little rectangle (2 sheets, together) and put the reinkers on the folds. Make a pattern with your colors. Then just drag the wipe (fold to paper) down the paper. I used regular whisper white. To make the plaid, continue the dragging across the paper.

I cut the paper using my Cutt lebug with the SU top note die.

I used So Saffron, Certainly Celery, and Pirouette Pink ink and reinkers from SU and SS, CC, and Whisper White paper.
I've been wanting to ink up my bird set from SU and am always happy to use my top note die. The ribbon is SU from Salebration.

A German Thanks for my SIL

I have been wanting this set 4EVER! This card represents 2 exciting additions to my bulging collection of card making gear. I got the SU circle cutter. I think I'm getting the hang of it. My SIL watched my babes for me while I was in Phoenix lately and this is her thank you card. The inside has a white sheet with just the grass stamped to write the message. My handwriting didn't turn out as well as I'd hoped. I just don't have that fluid hand that Dawn and Kristina have.
The colors are: Kiwi Kiss, Pink Pirouette, Rose Red, Certainly Celery, and Old Olive. I colored directly onto the image with markers. I wish SU sold in color

Wow! Such a long time since my last post. If you stop by, THANKS! :) Good to have an audience from time to time. I particpated in Kristina Werner's color Challenge!! I love the color combinations and the submissions are awesome. I'm using these for a swap I'm in Tuesday night. Hope your New Year is happy so far! I'm so looking forward to a 3 day weekend and then the INAUGURATION!!! I'm so excited for our nation!

For Kristina's challenge, I used Pumpkin Pie, Rose Red, and Pretty in Pink Ink and paper. The circles are from the Country Living Promotion at SU. The heart is from SU's Best Wishes and More (p. 55 of the new catty). I got it at Regionals here in Va. Beach. Check out the other submissions at Kristina's. They are awesome. Great color combo.

So much to do...So little time. I have NO Christmas presents bought, no cards made, etc. So, this weekend will be my weekend to get organized. HEre's what I've been doing instead :) . When overwhelmed-create, I always say! I made the banner after I saw the one on No Time to Stamp that Sharon Johnson created. It is stunning! Check it out! I love this accordian style card and she also made a very cool box to put it in. What a great gift that would make. I used Whisper White, PTI ribbon, monogram letters, and snow man image. SU Country Living Star stampm and Basic Grey DP.

I can't remember which blog I CASED this advent calendar from, but if it's you let me know. I'd be happy to give you props.

The Best Set Ever! (Sung to the Tune of Best Day Ever)

This set is so very great. I tried my hand at the baby wipe method of creating a stamp pad. First I tried it with a wet paper towel. Doesn't work. Then I tried it with HandiWipes. worked ok but not as well as with baby wipes. Unfortunately I'm wayyyyy to lazy to go get baby wipes. When I was rinsing the plate that I had the wipes on, I realized that there was a beautiful pattern of inks on the porcelain plate, so I smushed the paper into it to make a beautiful DSP :).

It's late, and my post is short. I love, love, love, the top note die. It's so perfect! I always need birthday cards at the spur of the moment, so this will come in handy. All supplies are SU. I used sage shadow, choco chip, and tangerine tango. I was going for Clean and Simple and may have undershot (?) I'm thinking it needs something....

Someone inspired me to look up "vintage images" on Google and use them in my cards. This is what I came up with. Is the doll a bit creepy with the turkey though? What's that all about? Anywho, hope you like it! I don't know if you can tell, but I popped up a few leaves and made a border using a single leaf stamp from a hostess stamp. HOpe you like!

REgionals note cards and holder

I had a blast at SU Regionals. I had no idea it would be so fun and informative. I can't imagine how great convention is.

Here's one of the cute projects we made with the set they gave us "Best Wishes and More".

It's mini notecards and a note card holder. I gave it to a friend who's been out of work from surgery. We miss her and are looking forward to her getting back. This set is adorable! Let me know if you are interested in ordering it. It has cute sentiments, the bird, a flower, and a heart. I know I'll be able to use it a lot!

This month has been a crazy one. (Looks like I've been posting once a month since school started back :( Gotta work on that.). Soccer season is over, so things should slow down a bit. Although basketball is starting for one of my girls....

We have a working kitchen now, although we need to finish the details: paint, trim, window treatments, and flooring. I can't tell you how are quality of life changed since we got the sink installed though!!!

This is for my gals' swap. The theme this month was Asian but sadly I have no Asian stamps. I tried to go with the nature thing. I used the beautiful SU Eastern Blooms and Heard From the Heart. The color is kiwi kiss. I also used SU DP and the jumbo brads. I'm really happy with the way the card turned out. Hope you like!

We have a super soccer player on our team who tore a muscle and is out for the season! We are giving her this card which says, We miss you! Get better soon! on the inside. I was excited to get to use my new Molly Stamps, Today's Forecast. The set came with the very cool Tim Holtz' spinners!! I thought they were so neat! I got these cards for a friend, Valerie because they were fifty cents. Of course that required a 15 dollar MS edge punch and a 7 dollar Basic Grey Mellow sampler! They took minutes to alter and turned out cute. It was hard to get a picture, though! Hope you get the idea. No stamping on this one. The cards are stacked on one another. Hope you like!

Finally a post! Bella Birthday Gift

I hurriedly (in 10 minutes) made this gift packaging for a special friend of DD's. If I'd had more time, I'd have used some ribbon or other embellishment, but isn't this Bella Rose paper gorgeous? I'm crazy about it. I think I'll have to order more. At my friend Jessica's Vanda's house we made adorable Halloween treats in this style with Kit Kat bars and cute Halloween paper and stamps. All you need to do is cut your paper, put tape along all edges, fold two parallel sides over on each other and use your crimper to crimp the ends. Then decorate with belly bands, etc. It couldn't be easier or cuter! (The gift was a DS game)

I cased this card from Denise, the featured stamper at Splitcoast Stampers. She was wonderful enough to post a template for the dress, too! I used Martha Stewart's Botanicals paper and retired SU rub-ons as well as Whisper White and Chocolate Chip paper. The embellies are Martha Stewart photo corners (all from wal-mart.) I figured if I have to go there for something, I must reward myself with crafty stuff. I have had the ribbon for ages and only know I ordered it on Ebay (from Jacksonbelle I think). I combined some colors for this card that surprised me when I saw them together. This is for SCS's Technique Lover's Challenge. I'm not sure I met the requirements for the challenge because I didn't use Whisper White to make the image look embossed. I really need to get a reinker! My WW is way too dry. I DID get to use my new Baja Breeze and Pacific Point ink pads and my new Heard from the Heart set. I just love new catalog time!

I learned this technique from Colleen on Tuesday. Just stamp dark CS with craft white ink and use pastels to color in details. Use a swiffer duster (i had to use a tissue) to remove excess chalk. The white ink really gives the image nice dimension and light. Try it - It couldn't be easier! Hope you like!

I absolutely love this set from SU called "In the Wild". It's retired, but it's so versatile and I don't get tired of it. I also had the chance to use a couple of SU rub ons from the Eastern Elegance set ( the flower and teh sentiment.) I used Chocolate Chip, Soft Sky, and Certainly Celery paper and ink. The polka dots are Itty Bitty Backgrounds.

Here's a card I did for a swap that's upcoming. I have to make the post very quick because we are busy with the remodel and DH doesn't appreciate me spending lots of time with other hobbies. A Fine Mess!

This is my life right now. My sink is represented by the pipes coming out of the slabs. My husband says he can do this, so I must have faith in him. We took down the old cabinets, stripped the wallpaper, and hung some of the new cabinets. I look forward to the day when we have a sink again! As you can imagine there is no stamping going on around here. The card posted is one I made for a SCS swap using retired in colors. It is one of the flawed ones that I didn't send. I chose to use Vintage Violet and River Rock. Hope you like!

This card was for a Ways to Use It Challenge at SCS this week. You were to use up scraps of DP. This paper is Basic Grey's Two Scoops. I've always had trouble with the colors in this paper pad. I paper-pieced the cupcakes to use up tiny scraps. The cardstock and ribbon are PaperTrey Ink. The images are from my new Inkadinkadoo Happy Cupcake set. I used a white gel pen to embellish the cupcakes and added faux stitching. Hope you like!

Have you seen the Sheetload monthly zine? It's a very cool place for you to check out. This month's challenge has prizes! Head on over to this link and check out their free magazine and submit a card! It's Christmas in July! Time to get a jump on cardmaking and get it out of the way. By the way, I'm not a do Christmas ahead of time person at all! I get annoyed, honestly about getting ready for Christmas until after Halloween. It just feels like so much pressure. With the state of the economy these days, though, I think I may have to start early! So, here's a card to get us all in the spirit!

I used the following:

stamps: PTI TAke a Bough

paper: Basic Grey Figgy, Cool Carribean, Rose Red. Whisper White

ink: Rose REd, Chocolate Chip, Old Olive

accessories: Marvy scallop punches, ribbon, glue dots

To make the card, I cut out papers according to dimensions given for challenge, made the ornament with this cool set from PaperTrey. Stamped the sentiment on the blue sheet using a gridded acrylic block, sponged and assembled. The ribbon is held down with glue dots and the ornament layer is popped up.

Another Dirty Girl Challenge

Here's another Dirty Girls' Challenge. This one is layering (DTGD08Michelle) and layout (DTGD08Holly). I used another bird image from Flourishes' Birds Galore. The paper is Basic Grey "Back to School?" and the ink and paper colors are Sage, Rose Red, and More Mustard. I used my coluzzle and My Marvy Scallop Circle punch to do the owl layers. The eyes are brads. I also did some piercing in the corners of the plaid piece.

This is our cat Mali that we rescued from a farm. She was emaciated and full of fleas, but she took to the litter box like a champ. Since we got the dogs she has taken to using the dog door. She brought us critters for a while, but once we belled her, that practice ceased (she says with fingers crossed.)

Watercolor Garden Vellum for Laurie's Challenge

I found an old scrap of paper with images from Watercolor Garden (retired SU) and decided to use it with vellum for the SCS DGchallenge by Laurie. I embossed the vellum with my cuttlebug and sponged it with More Mustard to get the embossing to pop a little. The other colors are Eggplant Envy and Old Olive. I stamped the sentiment on the vellum cardstock and adhered it with brads. Hope you like! If you don't have a Cuttlebug yet, I recommend them. You can use your 40% off coupon at Michaels (although sometimes it takes some "persuading" with cashiers).
I think my card could have used a thin ribbon. I'll have to go through my stash and see what I can find.

fter I made this card, I realized, it's very "The Birds". That movie TERRIFIED me as a child. The suspense seemed so intense. Dirty Dozen Challenge # 1

I got my new Flourishes stamps that I ordered and couldn't wait to ink them up. I decided to ink them for Julie's white space challenge over at SCS. I only recently got Pumpkin Pie ink and absolutely love it. I've been using it quite a bit. I also used my Scor-Pal for the first time to make the box. I found that harder than it looks. I need to figure out some dimensions for regular size cards and boxes that fit perfectly in the middle. I used glue dots to "ruffle" the ribbon just so. I haven't added a sentiment as I'm not sure what this card will be used for.

This next card was forJody's ribbon challenge. Follow the links for each of these challenge for the details abotu the challenge. There is a contest if you are interested! I tried to make the ribbon look like it was holding the image suspended. I may have to play with this design.

Today was hot and extremely lazy. I always feel so guilty when I spend time stamping and surfing blogs and have no "necessary" project completed for the day. I'll try to make up for it tomorrow. Hope you had a nice Tuesday!

TLC 178 on SCS

TLC 178. I used Cloud 9 Design Epoxy Brads that Lauraly sent me in blog candy because I couldn't fit 3 butterflies on. i also took the guide off my Wrought Iron Punch to make the bottom piece because I couldn't find my slit punch and my corner rounder broke! This is my first time doing this technique and I loved it! I don't have little, little ones anymore so I wet a paper towel. I'll have to pick up wipes next time I'm out.

The challenge was to CASE SUSIESTAMPSALOT at SCS today. I chose this card. I thought the layout was way cute. I took the easy route and used PTI papers and ribbon. They coordinate so beautifully. I got this Bella image from blog candy over at Laurie Schmidlen's Thanks, Laurie!

I got the cute letter circles for the sentiment one day at Target's dollar spot I think. I bought it hoping they'd come in handy and I think they did! I love how the card came out.

Hope your weekend was great! It's incredibly hot here but we've had clear skies. I did some stamping with an SU club this weekend which was incredibly fun! I'll have to share those another time. My family (brother, sister, and sig. others) were here this weekend. We barbecued, swam in the pool and laughed as we always do. I love my siblings to pieces! I wish everyone was here regularly! This is an example of me wanting to combine an uninked set wit a color challenge. It definately does not always work (as in this case). The card seems garish to me in contrast with the inspiration piece.

Sympathy Cards

I had to make 2 sympathy cards this week: 2 too many. I try to keep them super simple. The first uses Sahara Sand with Versamark and an Old Olive ribbon. The sentiment is stamped inside with Old Olive.

The second card uses a butterfly punch, Take a Bough, and Cuttlebug embossing folder and die. I added some bling to the butterfly for interest, but tried to keep it all simple.

BILs Birthday

I needed a card for my BIL, so what better set than SUs Birthday Whimsy? I have barely used it, so I thought I'd ink it up with Tempting Turquoise, Chocolate Chip and a little Orange/Pumpkin. I popped up the middle panel to add texture. I left my mess in the background. Look familiar to anyone?

My Brother-In-Law is such a wonderful guy. We are lucky to have him in our family. Actually I feel like that about all of my in-laws. How awesome is that? I don't hear that from friends too often.

Hope ya'll had a good weekend. We saw Journey to the Center of the Earth and hung out by the pool. The movie was lots of fun with lots of 3-D action. The pups got to go out fishing with DH and had a blast. Have a good Monday!

KW Color Challenge 15

Accoutrement and a zany color challenge

I had a hard time putting Groovy Guava, Chocolate Chip, and Barely Banana together, but was happy with this card in the end. I used a bleach pen to color the top flower after embossing it and to stamp French script into the Choc chip layer. It ended up looking a lot like Groovy Guava. I then cuttlebugged it with the Textiles embossing folder to add to the distressed look.

This is a CASE of Teneale's card Baroque Butterflies found here.Her Vellum butterflies inspired me to use some of my PaperTrey acetate sheets that I've been saving. They are the sheets that the stamps come mounted on. So I made an acetate butterfly and used Night of Navy instead of white as the accent color.

Instead of the Baroque swirls for the background I used Heartfelt flowers. The butterfly is SU's retired Wonderful Wings. Isn't it the greatest set, ever?

On a personal note the card is for a coworker who lost her 18 year old brother-in-law last week. He was a local football hero and the butterfly is done in his high school colors. By all accounts, he was a fine young man with a promising future. His life was lost in a moment of incomprehensible violence. He was to head to his first year of college on a scholarship in the fall. My condolences to his family, teachers, friends, fans, and all.

Here's another challenge from Kristina's. People do such a great job with the challenges. I'm always amazed with what they come up with. This week the colors were Grey, Basic Black, Whisper White, Rose Red, and River Rock. The last two were optional. The stamp sets I used were: In the Wild (SU retired), Happy Everything (SU), and good ole' Itty Bitty Backgrounds (SU). I love to use IBBackG's when I get the chance. I embossed the "happy" and added just a splash of Rose Red. I thought this would make a good masculine card. Hope you like it!

I made this banner for Independence Day. The picture doesn't show that the stars and letters are popped up. It looks so much cuter IRL. I used Provo Craft Americana paper by Michelle Anderson that I purchased last summer. The letters are stamped in Night of Navy and Real Red (SU) and the stars are cut out with the Sizzix Star #2 die and my Cuttlebug. I got the ribbon at Wal-mart for Dr. Seuss day at our school. I just love grosgrain ribbon.

SCS IC134 Otherwise Known As I Have Way too Much Going On In This

This is called "State Fair Bedding" I would love it in my DD's room! I took note of way too many elements and tried to recreate them. I'm a work in progress, so hopefully I can keep it simpler next time. I used SU's Beautiful Blooms, my Cuttlebug (to mimic the rug) and my square punch to make a frame for the flowers. Note to self: Next time, punch out white squares to create a faux frame. Sometimes, I just gotta do things the hard way!

Jules' Birthday Card

I was in the mood for watercoloring, but it was harder than I expected. I need to practice. I used good old Wild Wasabi, watercolor paper, and marigold morning and barely banana. I used the distressor tool on the edges and watercolored them as well. The sentiment is from SU's happy birthday set. The stamp is from an unknown company. I bought the set at AC Moore long ago and NEVER USED it.

We have a very hot, smoky day in store for DD's birthday. You can actually see the smoke from the Dismal Swamp in the photo. Lovely, Eh? Have a happy last weekend of June!!!

This is for SC182 over on splitcoast. My Sweetie is 8 tomorrow. She's a major animal enthusiast, so Wild About You was the only set to use! Sorry about the lighting. I did this late at night and wanted to get it posted. I have a BFF who's birthday is July 4th, so she always gets a patriotic card from me. I used my new Virginia stamp from CC Designs at All That Scraps. I paperpieced her clothes with some DP from Michaels. I also got a new Sizzix Stars die to use in my Cuttlebug for the embelllies. The design colors were wild wasabi, sahara sand, so saffron, and whisper white. I had the wild wasabi and whisper white :( . Anyway, here's my attempt using Marigold Morning and Kraft as subs. I saw a challenge on a blog today to use 1$ stamps, so I used the flower from my Michael's 1$ bin. I also saw a tutorial today onJan Dierks' blog for making faux bows with glue dots. You can find that video here .

I used Versamagic on the flowers and embossed them. The shininess is a bit much on the pic.

I used PaperTrey's Honey Bees to add the bees to the little metal rimmed stickers that I think I got at Target or the Dollar Store. It's beena while since I purchased them, and I just can't remember where? Anyway, the look of them makes me think of the Honeybee's dance they do to tell each other where to find the best nectar. How cool is that?

Soft Sky, Basic Black, and Kraft are the colors this week on SCS. You can find some awesome ideas for using these colors here. I used glossy white cardstock from SU and used a white crayon to 'mask' some of the image. Then I sponged the image with Soft sky and wiped off the ink with a soft cloth. I used the ribbon as an afterthought because I didn't have Basic Black cardstock. (What kind of papercrafter doesn't have Basic Black, I ask you?) The hardware was purchased at JoAnn's at 40% off this week. I've never used hardware before and have learned that it's probably best to use on landscape orientation because of placement and weight.
